Solon Lee Chafin Jr.

Chafin Solon Lee Chafin Jr., age 72, of Pickerington, died Sunday, January 27, 2013. He was born June 17, 1940 to the late Solon and Martha Chafin. Lee graduated from Kermit High School in 1957 and was an Airborne Ranger in the U.S. Army. Lee worked for Western Electric in Columbus, OH, as a computer programmer and then transferred to AT&T Management in Orlando, FL, where he retired in 1994 after 34 years. Lee loved card games, bowling, softball and spending time at Lost Hollow Campground. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Diana Lee Parker, brothers John and David Chafin and nephew Bruce Patton Messer. Lee is survived by his wife, Joyce Anne; daughter, Angela Lee; son-in-law, Russ Sloan; granddaughters, Adelyn Sloan and Melissa (Parker) Bowers; grandson, Daniel Parker; great-granddaughter, Ariana Bowers; brother, Gary (Jenny) Chafin; sisters, Stella (Gobe) Messer, Sarah (Dave) Bowman, Betty Ann Muncy, Retta (Jimmy) Parsley, Becky (Elmer) Kirk, Donna (David) May and Gina (Darrell) Rose. Friends may visit Wednesday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Road North (St. Rt. 256), Pickerington, 43147, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Evangelist Mark Meadows officiating. Interment to follow at Violet Cemetery.
