Teiko Yu Obituary

Yu Teiko S. Yu, age 80, passed peacefully on August 11, 2015 while at her residence. She lived her life with grace and dignity, and she stepped into the hands of the Lord in the same way after a brief bout with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. She was born in Tokyo, Japan and moved to the United States in 1969, becoming a naturalized citizen in 1974. Having studied accounting in college, she had been a long-time employee at Ernst and Co. in Tiffin, Ohio as an accounting administrator. She moved to Dublin, Ohio in 1996. She became an active member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she volunteered for many years, activities that provided her with purpose and joy, and a sense of community that she cherished even after she was no longer able to physically attend. She loved to watch sports and movies, and was fastidious in keeping up with world events and current news. She is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings all from Japan, and her loving husband Thomas H. Yu, who passed away in 1997. She is survived by her children, James (Dani) Yu, AIA, Dr. John (Marti) Yu, and Dr. Joseph (Cynthia) Yu; grandchildren, Sarah Yu, Michael Yu, Jeff Yu, and Faith (Nathan) McCoy; and great-grandchildren, David Yu and Ezra McCoy. A short memorial service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5475 Brand Road, Dublin, Ohio on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor John Morris. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the American Kidney Association or to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Music Fund in Teiko's memory. Rutherford Funeral Homes at Powell assisted the family with arrangements. Visit www.rutherfordfuneralhome.com to extend online condolences or share a memory.

When we moved to Dublin in 2013, we became a next door neighbor to Teiko. What a blessing that became. We enjoyed her positive attitude every time we met her outside. Her stories were always enjoyable to hear. We always enjoyed hearing what she had to say. Each week, after the rubbish was collected, we had this ongoing challenge as to who would beat her in bringing her container back to her garage door.
She will be missed, but we know she went to her home in heaven.

We enjoyed Teiko when she would join the 'dinner bunch'. She would talk about her life, the places she lived, how proud she was of all of her sons, and how she loved going to her grandchildren's activities. She was a wonderful lady who will be missed.

We enjoyed Teiko so much in our bible study at Prince of Peace. She was such a sweet lady and always dressed to the T. She always had a smile and loved to ask how we were. We will miss her very much and extent our sincere sympathy to all her family.
