Timothy Cockrell Obituary

COCKRELL Timothy L. Cockrell, age 60, of Carroll, died Sunday, February 3, 2008, at his residence after an extended illness. Born August 12, 1947, in Portsmouth, he was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and Ohio University, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Gahanna. Tim was the consummate grandfather, enjoyed being with family and friends, and loved sandy beaches. He is survived by his wife, Jane; step-son, Matt (Mary) Whited, Dublin, and their children, Anneliese, Maxwell and Olivia; mother, Maxine D. Cockrell, Chillicothe; twin-brother, Tom (Cheryl) Cockrell, Upper Arlington; sisters, Carole Cockrell, Chillicothe, Claire (Tim) Grasso, Santa Maria, CA; father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Doris Mast, Coshocton; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father Chester C. Cockrell. Friends may visit 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, where funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with Rev. Thomas McGranor officiating. Entombment will follow at Lithopolis Cemetery Mausoleum. Tim was a member of the prestigious Old Guard unit at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC.
In the last years of his life ,he suffered from a viral infection but fought valiantly against it.
