Walter Shelley Obituary

SHELLEY Walter K. Shelley, III, age 71, of ST RT 529, Cardington died Saturday evening January 26, 2008 at the Community Health Care Center. He was born April 7, 1936 in Columbus to the late Walter K. and Grace M (Harold) Shelley, Jr. Walter attended Otterbein College and served in the US Army. He had worked construction for the former Columbus and Southern Electric Company, now AEP for 37 years and was a member of the IBEW Union. Walter loved camping at Dogwood Valley, listening to the radio, OSU sports, watching football, swimming and dancing. He was married to Linda Lee Shelley and she preceded him in death on November 5, 1999. Survivors include two sons, Walter K. Shelley IV and Teresa Yeater of Mt. Gilead and Daniel A and Leslie Shelley of Moody, TX; a daughter, Christina S. Shelley-Seitz of Marengo; three grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Shelley, Michael Charles Shelley and Kasey Ward Seitz; a sister, Suzi and Ron Jones of Westerville; one nephew, Jeff Jones; two nieces, Terri and Penni Jones; and many loving friends including, Karen Lashley, Chris Barker, Jeff Barker and Tammy Smith. Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Tuesday January 29, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 30, 2008 at 1 p.m. A special thanks to Heartland Hospice of Marion County and Community Healthcare Center. The Walt Shelley we knewloved to dance, hung out at the Boathouse in Whitehall, a suburb of Cols, and ran around with Phil Bell at that Time - he wa s fun to be with and always in a good mood.
