To Goldie & family,

I'm so sorry to hear about Doug. You were the first person I met at Columbia and we used to talk about our families growing up in Oak Hill. I'm sure this is a difficult time for you and I hope you are doing alright.

My condolences to Doug's family. He'll be sadly missed by all of us. Doug and I go back as childhood friends and playmates on Aetna Street. Our friendship continued through high school where he and I were guards and co-captains on the football team our senior year at OHHS. I have many fond memories of our experiences growing up together. Doug was a true friend. I was fortunate to run into Doug in Oak Hill a couple of years ago. He and the "Hudman" were at the foot of Patrick Hill where I joined them and we had an opportunity to talk about family and old times. Doug was eager and proud to tell me all about his family. We are all blessed to have known and loved Doug.

Goldie, Sandy, Al, and other members of Doug's family,

When I got the news of Doug's death I was at a ministerial conference in North Carolina and could not reach out to you. I want you to know that you are in my heart and prayers. May the Lord give you comfort and peace that goes beyond understanding during this time of such grief.

With sympathy and love,

Cathy

To my big brother who leaves a void that can never be filled. You always said as a child "Blood is thicker than water" -- you taught me "family" comes first! I remember when you got your pony "Polly" for Christmas and you, Al and I went to the barn to see it! We will all meet again in Heaven!!! Your loving Sister --
