The word of Bill's passing is hard for those of us left behind to hear. But the release of the best of who he was and is into the eternal hands of God is good news, indeed. How we feel the envy of his first glimpse of the Holy he shared so conscientiously through the years! My prayers surround you as I ask God's comfort to be tangibly felt in these hours of honor and celebration of a life well lived.

I was delayed in receiving your sad news, but please know that the Siehl Family sends along deep sympathy to you all. My husband and I were honored that Reverend Hines performed our marriage ceremony. We were privileged to connect with you through the Wittenmyers in Findlay after your years in Sidney. Dear Carolyn and Family,
We especially felt drawn to Rev. Hines and his powerful sermons. "When his sermons brought tears to my eyes, I knew they were meant for me." That happened often.
The two of you drove to Cleveland area to officiate at the wedding of Todd and his bride. Other children were married by Derek. We thank the Hines family.
We know that all the suffering is over and we praise God that you will be reunited someday in Heaven.
We are anticipating that reunion, too.
May GOD continue to bless you.

He was a wonderful man and minister. He could touch you with his eloquent words. He was a great counselor also as I remember from my parents and sister. I looked forward to shaking his hand after every service as he made you feel like you were his best friend. Carolyn and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. God's fullest blessings to your family at this time and the days ahead. My richest memories are times I spent in his office for counsel as a young lady that I believe saved my marriage of now 35 years. He sent us a letter at our 25th anniversary that meant so much to both Jim and I. I will forever be grateful for the words of wisdom that helped us grow our love of eachother. How absolutely wonderful to read of the years you had together Carolyn - you are a great example to all. My heartfelt love to all of you during this time of loss as Bill walks streets of gold. Psalm 30 tells me that HE turns our mourning into a joyful dance and I'm counting on HIM.

Dear Hines Family, Please know that my prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of Reverend Hines. His gift for bringing the Word of God to the Sidney FUMC set him apart from many others. His kindness in our time of need upon the sudden death of my father in 1984, and prayer that he led in the ER that day, brought us a sense of comfort and peace that I often revisit in my mind in times of need. May God comfort you now in yours. He was a great man and a great example for our Christian walk.

It is with tears streaming down my face as I remember the times we've shared and how much Bill and you mean to us. He was a wonderful, caring friend and even greater minister. His career was much too short, he had so much to offer and share. Such a blessing that all the family could be there for Father's Day and his passing and the beginning of his eternal life in Heaven. We attended The First United Methodist Church in Sidney many years ago and we thought the world of Reverend Hines. What a truly inspiring man he was. I can remember sermons he preached that have still stuck with me to this day. His entire family was inspiring to us as well. Please accept our condolences on the loss of such a very good man.

Carolyn and your beautiful family, So sorry to hear of Rev. Hines passing. We so loved him and your family at Sidney First UMC. We both came to Sidney in 74 and you two were a huge part in us making this our home! Then when I got sick in 84, his praying over me and anointing me while I was still in the Columbus hospital and then giving me the book "Getting Well" gave me courage and hope - no matter what the outcome. I was not afraid and that same hope and courage still continues. Seems like almost every one of his sermons on Sunday was directed straight for me. In talking with others, they felt the same way. He truly passed on to us what God wanted us to hear! We are so fortunate to have had him as our pastor! And very sad when you all left. But we all know where he is now.... and look forward to seeing him again some day!

Rev. Hines meant so much to me as a child growing up at Sidney FUMC. He was an enjoyable ball of energy and I always felt better for being in his presence. I cried the day he left our church and today again when I heard of his passing. A truly wonderful man. My thoughts are with all of you.

What happy memories we have of Bill and Carolyn when we were all students at O.U. back in the 50's, and all our lives really, as we raised our children and our get togethers over the years. Rev Hines is remembered when I was in the youth fellowship in late 70s. I graduated with Derek. I am sure he will be missed.
