I can't believe it has been a year. I have a picture of him in my office here at FVC. He was the greatest man I ever met and I think of him daily as I miss him in the halls. His spirit still lives on in my heart and in my mind. He was my hero in life and still..now. Merry Christmas to the family.

Bill, Jim and Peggy, I respected your father very much. Mr. Hoyer was one of the greatest mentors in my life. I doubt I would be where I am today if he hadn't shown such confidence in me. He was extremely intelligent and had a tremendous vocabulary. As his secretary, I learned a great deal from him and have been truly blessed by knowing him. He was so outgoing and I was so shy. But from his confidence in me, I gained confidence in myself. Mr. Hoyer truly touched my life and made it better. He was one of the classiest men I have ever known.

We got to know Mr. Hoyer at Friendship Village while having dinner with our Uncle Bill. We enjoyed visiting with him and seeing him weekly. Our love of Ohio State and sports in general lead to many long talks. We were so touched by his friendliness. He truly never met a stranger. What a great Buckeye.

Dear Hoyer family: Mr. Hoyer will be greatly missed. I always enjoyed talking to him when I would pass him in the hall. Our hello would turn into a long conversation about the Buckeyes or our boating at Lake Erie. I will miss those talks. FVC was blessed to be able to care for both your parents and to get to know both of them. Thinking of you at this time.
Sincerely,
Carol Gilbert

Working with Bill back in the days of his agency, I found him to be energetic, magnanimous and very outgoing. He had to manage a large agency, which included many diverse personalities. He and his family threw great Christmas parties, and their hospitality was warm and encouraging. We always got along fine. He was a bright and encouraging leader, who knew tons of people.

Getting to know Mr. Hoyer at FVC was one of the best things that came with my employment here. He would call me and say..."This is WILLIAM B, bet ya don't know who I am" And I always did. I loved him and his stories and his favorite stories were about his family and the Buckeyes! Your family is in our prayers.
