William Perry Obituary

PERRY William E. Perry. In loving memory of William E. Perry "Bill". Bill was born on February 28, 1944 in Montgomery, Ala., and-with great sadness-passed away on November 11, 2010 following a five-week struggle against cancer. He was preceded in death by his loving father, Murray J. Perry. Bill is survived by his wife; his three children; and, residing in California: his most loving mother, Sara Perry; his proud sister, Dot Perry-Johnson (John); and his reverent nephew, Ryan Darby. Bill spent his formative years as an Air Force brat prior to his family's transfer to Lockbourne Air Force Base. He graduated from Whitehall Yearling High School before earning his business degree at the Ohio State University. Bill was drafted into the Army and was honorably discharged after two years of proud service. Bill enjoyed a long, successful career as Vice President and Sales Manager of Central Ohio Welding Company in Columbus, where his positive energy and kind, gentle soul enriched many lives. Bill developed strong bonds with his colleagues, whom he came to regard as life-long friends: the family of Mike Burns, Sr; John Burns; Mike Netto, Sr.; Bill "Bull" Murnane; Mike Netto, Jr.; and, most recently, his kind secretary Karen. He also cherished and cultivated strong relationships with his long-time customers, whom he regarded as extended family. Decades-long business relationships have become rare, so the large number that he maintained testify to his honor, dedication, personability, diligence, and-above all-his stature as a gentleman. Bill, your love has profoundly affected us, and your spirit will forever touch our hearts. We will always be grateful for our time with you, especially our final three weekend visits during your illness and our daily phone calls. Your suffering pained us, but we know it has ended. "Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth . . . put out my hand, and touched the face of God." We know how much you enjoyed dining in San Francisco, so we will soon pay tribute by breaking bread together in one of your favorite restaurants-recalling fond memories, and dearly wishing you could have been there with us. Be at peace, and walk with your father; we will see you both before long. From your loving family in San Mateo, California: Mom, Dot, Ryan, and John. [email protected].

Dear Bill, Remembering you today and everyday. We miss seeing the kind face we loved so dearly. We miss your gentle voice. Son, your phone calls always meant more than you could ever know. Bill, you were my only sibling. I always told you how proud I was to have you as my brother. That was also part of our last conversation. Uncle Bill, I will always remember our conversations. You were the second family member I called after finding out I had passed the California Bar. You always made me feel proud. Mom rememebers Veterans Day from when we were kids. She always took us to watch the parade as Dad marched with his squadron. As Thanksgiving approaches, we remember your visits and how special they were. Mom fondly remembers your call on Thanksgiving Day 2009. You told her how much you would have enjoyed visiting and having her cornbread dressing that day. We prayed for one more Thanksgiving with you. We love you. Your loving Mom, your proud sister, your reverent nephew, and John

My Dear Bill,
Only God knows how much Rachel, Gunnar, Renee, and I love and miss you. I spent 30 years with you before your early passing, more than half of my life. You were a loving father and husband, expressing your love through hard work and providing for your family. No one knew you better than your children and me. I can't understand why you had to leave us, but it's comforting to know how well we cared for you during those last few weeks. You lived your life as you chose to live and we honored your wishes after your passing. You were not abandoned during your time of need. Hospice said we gave you a wonder gift by caring for you. In turn, you gave us the gift of knowing there is eternal love, expressed in many ways. There are no descriptive words to describe our love for you. We didn't worship you, for we only worship one God. We simply LOVE you, because you were who you were…
Love, Dee, Rachel, Gunnar, Renee

Dear Bill, It has been one year today since you left us here on earth after your very brief five week battle with cancer. We know you are at peace, after joining your loving dad in heaven. You both remain in our hearts and our thoughts every day. We love you and miss you more than words can ever say. Bill, you were a wonderful son, a kind brother, and a thoughtful,
caring uncle (so proud that your nephew was a young attorney). We love you dearly. Your loving mom, proud sister, Dot, John, and your reverent nephew, Ryan.

My deepest sympathy to Dotty and family. I remember Bill and Dotty fondly from our high school days at Whitehall. It is always so sad when we learn that we have lost a classmate. God Bless all of his family and friends.

Dee, Rachel, Gunnar and Renee-
WOW! What a beautiful service and tribute to your husband and father. To be surrounded by his loving family and friends in such a kind, unassuming, fellowship and then @ Champs ( as he would have it ) was truly amazing. You all did a wonderful, loving, selfless and inspiring job of taking good care of him these precious last weeks, making him feel peace and comfort when it mattered most. - our love, prayers and support are with you always- we love you all!
