Danny McClellan

1956 - 2022

Daniel Lane McClellan, better known as "Danny Mac," passed away peacefully at his home surrounded

by family and friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. He was 66.

Danny was born on August 13, 1956, to Willie Lee and Dot McClellan in Tupelo, MS. He was an honor

graduate of Tupelo High School and received his Accounting Degree from Mississippi State University,

where he was a member and President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. The most important event of his

college career was the blind date on which he met Amy Tanner McClellan, who became his wife of 42

years. Upon graduation the couple returned to Tupelo where they raised two beloved daughters, Lane

and Kristen. Danny spent his 42-year career in North Mississippi's furniture manufacturing industry at

Action/Lane Furniture and Southern Motion.

A lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church, Danny served as a deacon and played on Calvary's church

league softball and basketball teams. Dearest to his heart was planting seeds of faith, serving for many

years as a youth Sunday School teacher, coaching church league youth basketball, and working with

Calvary's Hilldale Apartment Ministry.

In September of 2019, Danny was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Throughout his journey,

Danny's faith never wavered, his strength never faltered, and his love was ever-present. A man of strong

character with a disciplined work ethic, he was kind-hearted to everyone. Even in the throes of this

terrible disease, Danny Mac was well known for his jokes and sense of humor.

A memorial service celebrating Danny's life will be held at noon on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at

Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS. Visitation will occur prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends. Condolences may be e mailed to hollandfuneraldirectors@comcast.net

Pallbearers include Kris McClellan, Kyle McClellan, Robert McClellan, Nicholas Davis, Patrick Bland,

Jonathan Poland, Adam Stewart, and Benjamin Stewart. Honorary pallbearers include Frank Appleby,

Tom Bailey, Roger Bland, George Hand, Larry Stewart, Buddy Stubbs, Sam Newell, and Steve White.

Danny is survived by his wife, Amy McClellan, of Tupelo; daughters, Lane McClellan, of Tupelo and

Kristen McClellan, of Denver, CO; his sister Barbara Davis (Ricky) of Tupelo; and his wonderful caregivers

Bernice Cummings, Faye Westmoreland, and Gail Wilburn.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randy McClellan.
