David Coleman Obituary

David Wiley Coleman, 84 died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home in Okolona. He was born March 30, 1932 in Montpelier, Clay County to David Haywood and Estelle Hazelwood Coleman. David was of the Methodist faith and attended the Okolona First Baptist Church.

David graduated from the Montpelier High School and attended Holmes Community College. He had worked at Babcock and Wilcox in West Point. After selling his family farming and ginning interest, he managed East Chickasaw Water Association.

He was an avid motorcycle rider and had traveled to several motorcycle rallies in Sturgis, South Dakota, Albuquerque, New Mexico and many other places of interest with his son and friends. He also enjoyed his friends who were in his Mazda Miata owners group. David was a gifted mechanic and enjoyed working in his shop and meeting his friends at the Hardees Breakfast Club on Saturday Mornings.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Caradine Coleman of Okolona; a daughter Emily Coleman Everett (Jesse) of Madison; a brother Roger Coleman (Jeannie) of Montpelier; and a stepson, Shan Moore (Stephanie) of Okolona. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Hunt Coleman, Matt Coleman, Jackson Everett and step grandchildren, Garrett Moore (Lindsy), Jesse Moore and Anna Katherine King (Josh); four great grandchildren; a daughter in law: Debra Coleman and two nephews, Mark Coleman (Teresa) and Tim Coleman (Dana).

David was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Col. Robert Stacy Coleman.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Dr. Randy Lewman officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Palestine Cemetery in Montpelier. Visitation will be from 5 PM-8PM today (Tuesday) and from 10 am-service time Wednesday, all at Holland-Okolona Chapel, which is honored to be serving the family.

Pallbearers will be Jackson Everett, Hunt Coleman, Matt Coleman, Garrett Moore, Jesse Lisonbee and David Thomas.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Shan Moore, Jimmy Caradine, Ken Coleman, Bob Harris, Preston Sullivan, Mike Sullivan, Jerry Hall, Jimmy Bigham and Glen Hardin.

The family requests that donations be made to Okolona First Baptist Church, 201 W. Main, Okolona, MS. 38860. Condolences may be e mailed to [email protected].
