Derrick Hicks Obituary

Derrick Hicks, 54, of Sherman passed away from this life after a brief diagnosis of lung cancer on March 26, 2024 at the NMMC in Tupelo. He was born in East Point, GA on February 3, 1970 to Jimmy Ray Hicks and Sherry Kelly Hicks. His working career included Campbells Upholstery and owning Hicks Wrecker Service both of Sherman. Derrick had an infectious laugh and enjoyed meeting people. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, especially a Dodge.

Visitation will be from 1:00pm until 3:00pm Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with a graveside service to follow at 4:00pm at Locust Hill Church Cemetery. Bro. Mike Smith will officiate.

Survivors, his six children, Courtney Hicks (Corey Whaley) of Dorsey, Emily Hicks (Sam Tate) of Caledonia, Haley Hicks Thorn (Michael) of Eggville, Wesley and Ansley Hicks of Sherman; mother, Sherry Kelly Hicks of Sherman; two sisters, Monica Estes (Len) of Mooreville and Michelle Elmore of Tupelo; half brothers, Kirk Swan of Waco, TX and Ped Hicks of Saltillo; and a half sister, Brittney Underwood of Belmont; grandchildren, Braxton and Carter Whaley and Cohen Tate; nephew, Shannon Estes; and niece, Kylie Estes Forrester.

Preceded in death by, father, Jimmy Hicks; grandparents, Raymond and Willie McKissick Hicks and Floyd and Estelle Chapman Kelly.

Pallbearers, Len Estes, Shannon Estes, Timmy Simmons, Ryan Kelly, Ped Hicks and Terry Loden.
