RIPLEY – James Freddie Ketchum, 101, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at Tippah County Hospital Nursing Home in Ripley. He was born on Oct. 31, 1914, to John Thomas Sr. and Ethel Bailey Ketchum in Falkner. He was a farmer and a founding member of Community Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 30, 2015, in McBride Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 30, 2015, from 7 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Ketchum is survived by one daughter, Ethel Leona Shelton of Ripley; three sons, Lavern Ketchum (Chrystine) of New Albany; Lamar Ketchum (Dorothy) and Terry Ketchum (Nelda Jean) both of Ripley; two sisters, Hazel Shelton and Sarah Fetter, both of Memphis, Tennessee; two brothers, Clifford Ketchum of Ripley and William Russell Ketchum of New Albany; eight grandchildren, Charles Shelton (Margie) of Pearl, Beverly Perry (Bill) of Pontotoc, Nancy Lefler (Steven) of Blue Mountain, Kristie Givens (Allen), Greg Ketchum (Jackque), Cheryl Ketchum Bass (Steve), Shellye Ketchum Wilson (Scott), Fredrick Ketchum (Andrea), all of Ripley; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thellie Irene Bryant Ketchum; his parents; three brothers, Hughey, John Thomas Jr. and Elijah Ketchum; one son-in-law, Johnie Shelton.
Pallbearers will be Charles Shelton, Steven Lefler, Bill Perry, Greg Ketchum, Allen Givens, Fredrick Ketchum, Steve Bass, Scott Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandchildren.
