Janet Young Steele

1943 - 2023

Janet Young Steele, 80, passed away July 31, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North MS in Oxford. A devout born-again Christian and member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, she enjoyed listening to revivalists such as Billy Graham and other preachers, cooking organic foods, arranging her home, and watching various tv shows ranging from modern home and cooking shows to classic shows like the Fugitive and the Invaders. Mostly she enjoyed talking to and spending time with her children. Nothing brought her as much joy as being able to see and spend time with her children. She enjoyed making the ones she loved happy and she would do whatever she could to help anyone she could. Her family lost their mother but the world lost a great friend. She will be missed more than anything by us. We love you Momma and know that we'll get to see you again in the next life.

A graveside service will be Friday, August 11, 2023, at 6:00pm at Endville Cemetery. Bro. Marty Browning will officiate. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors, daughters, Jennifer Swords and Emily Singh (Paul); son, David Steele; sisters, Birdie Mae Burleson and Ann Neaves (Lonnie); brothers, Bobby Lee Young and John Young (Nancy); 6 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by, husband, Robert Harold Steele; son, Michael Allen Steele; and parents, Charles Burkett and Birdie Lee Young.

Pallbearers, Jonathan Swords, Derek Steele, Mike Stephens, Bill Collins, Allen Simmons and Ben Williams.

Visitation, 5:30pm until 6:00pm.
