Judith Heytens Obituary

BOONEVILLE - Judith G. Heytens died Monday, February 27, 2017, surrounded by family at her home in Pisgah, Mississippi. She was born January 16, 1939, in Springfield, Illinois, to George and Thelma Peterson. Most of her youth was spent in Long Beach, California, where she later met and married Leo, whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage together on December 31, 2016.
Throughout her life, Judy was an adventurer. Always supporting her husband's aspirations, she and her family of four moved to Mississippi in the mid-1960s to further the Christian ministry as Jehovah's Witnesses. Throughout her life, she took great pride in being a wonderful mother and hospitable entertainer. Nothing brought her more joy than setting a beautiful table, cooking for friends and family, and working with needlework. Generous and self-sacrificing by nature, she went on to nurture the lives of her seven children and many family pets. She had a great affection for animals, large and small, and spent much time and energy in teaching others about the Bible. She loved all of God's creations and enjoyed the beauty of the farm in which she lived.
Survivors include her husband, Leo; two sons, Bill Heytens (Carol) of Marietta and David Heytens (Bonnie) of Dodge City, Kansas; five daughters, Jeannette Bommersbach (Duane) of Odessa, Texas, Mary Carpenter (Rodney) of Corinth, Leah Patterson (Daniel) of Tupelo, Esther Heytens of Jackson, and Becky Jenkins (Daniel) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and one brother, Paul Peterson of Long Beach, California. She also has 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the services of Dr. Laurence Dennis and Gentiva Hospice.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Thelma Peterson; one son, Timothy; and a grandchild, Gary.
The graveside service is reserved for family only at Oaklawn Cemetery in Booneville, Mississippi. A memorial service will be held at the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Corinth, Mississippi, Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 1 p.m. All friends and family are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to further her ministry at jw.org or to your local humane society.

Dear Sister Heytens will be missed by everyone. She was one of the hardest working people I knew. She will be dearly missed until the day when we will see her again in the resurrection. We love you all and will be praying for you every day. Love you guys,
