Mabry Allison Obituary

Mabry Davis Allison, Junior passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Mabry known by most in the Wren community as Bro, pronounced "Bruh", was 89 years old. Mabry was born in Wren, MS on December 28, 1935, to the parents of Mabry Davis Allison, Senior and Eva Mae Allison. He graduated from Nettleton High School in 1953 and attended Itawamba Community College. After college, Mabry worked for Dryden Manufacturing Co. in Wren, MS, and later he was employed at Walker Manufacturing Company in Aberdeen, MS for 9 years. Mabry lived all his life on the Allison family farm after leaving Walker Manufacturing he took over running the farm. In 1989 the Department of Agriculture presented the Centennial Farm Award to Mabry and his wife Dee, as the farm had been operated by a member of the Allison Family for 133 years. This was his true passion of crop farming, raising cattle and training cutting horses and Mabry continued these endeavors until his retirement from the crops and cattle. His passion for horses carried over, however, for many years after he retired from farming. He continued to ride and train cutting horses into his seventies. He was one of the longest living members of the American Quarter Horse Association. In these later years he also rekindled his love for cars, especially muscle cars. He was an excellent mechanic and restored many vintage muscle cars. He loved attending car shows and buying and selling refurbished cars. He served as an elder of Wren Presbyterian Church in his earlier years and of Faith Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen in his later years. His greatest accomplishment if asked would be his family. He loved and adored his son and grandchildren. He enjoyed being in fellowship with his family and friends. Mabry had an art of telling stories and giving out words of wisdom. He loved to go out and spin a yarn while surrounded by friends and could be found eating most weekends at the Friendship House Restaurant.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Deloris (Dee) Hough Allison, parents Mabry Davis Allison, Senior and Eva Mae Allison, and sister Clarian Allison.

He is survived by his son Dr. Mabry Franklin Allison (Stephanie) and his adored grandchildren, Anna Claire Allison Billingsley (Jacob) and Bo Franklin Allison, all of Ocean Springs, MS.

A visitation will be held at EE Pickle Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 11 AM to 12:30 followed by a graveside service at Old Union Cemetery in Wren at 1:00 PM.
