Mary C. Gregory

1928 - 2023

Mary Charles Curbow Gregory, age 95, passed away December 27, 2023 at Kirby Pines Care Center, Memphis, TN.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2023 at Carriage Hills Baptist Church, 8352 Farmington West, Southaven from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Auburn Baptist Church Cemetery, 1138 CR-931, Tupelo, MS 38804 at approximately 3:30 pm.

Mary was born in Tupelo, MS to Robert "Skinner" and Elsie (Christian) Curbow. Mary grew up attending Auburn Baptist Church where she was active in the choir and sang many solos.

Mary graduated from Tupelo High School and attended Clark College. Mary and her husband Hugh attended the same elementary school, same church, were childhood friends, youth sweethearts, and married at the age of 19. God blessed them over the more than 75 years they have spent together.

Mary moved to Southaven in 1972 and visited the Carriage Hills Baptist Church. She was so impressed with the church functions, members, and preaching that she became a member and has been ever since. She served on several committees, taught Sunday School, Bible Study, and helped others in decorating the church for special events.

Mary worked with several businesses and government agencies. She started with the Chancery Clerk office of Lee County in Tupelo, Sears, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Internal Revenue Service (IRS). She retired in 1990.

Mary is survived by her husband Hugh and three children, Ron Gregory (Linda), Debbie Gregory Slautterback (Marty), Sherry Gregory Burrage (Michael), three grandsons, Robert Slautterback, Evan Gregory, Ryan Slautterback (Alayna), two granddaughters Andrea Gregory Cooper (Jonathan), Valerie Gregory, one great-granddaughter Sydney Cooper, one great-grandson Luke Cooper, one step granddaughter Kristen Burrage Elher (Mike), and one step grandson Nicholas Burrage.
