Mary Ruth Magers

1925 - 2017

Mary Ruth Johnson Magers, 92, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born on May 11, 1925 in the Ratliff Community to Tom C. and Mirl Hopkins Johnson. She had resided in Nettleton for the past 64 years, was a beautician, & a member of the Nettleton First Baptist Church. She enjoyed going fishing and camping, working in her garden, visiting with people, traveling, and fixing her customers hair, and being with her dog "Suzy".

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Nettleton First Baptist with the Rev. Donald Pounders, the Rev. Clint Newsom, & the Rev. Thomas Magers officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park in Verona. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton will be in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Regina King (Jamie) of Nettleton; three sons, Woody Magers (Judy) and Thomas Magers (Debbie), all of Nettleton, & Jerry Millwood of Port Arthur, TX; two sisters, Jimmie Lou Loftin (Carl) and Sarah Shelton (Curtis), all of Eggville: eight grandchildren; Kevin Magers (Katie), Chad Magers (Christy), Angel Carr, (David), Thomas Magers, ll, ( Amanda), Mandy Webb (Wayne), Lee King (Mary), Miranda Goddard (Nick), Phil Millwood; sixteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. L.R. Magers; her parents; one brother, Thomas McCoy Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Hester, Dub Harris, Barry Parker, Mark Burroughs, Robert Lee, Richard Scruggs, Carroll Pettigrew, Jimmy Moore.

Honorary pallbearers will be anyone she ever taught in Sunday School.

Memorials may be made to the Nettleton First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 427, Nettleton, MS 38858.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and will continue Monday from 10 a.m. until time for services, all at the church.
