Michael Vernon Obituary
Mike graduated from Northeast Mississippi Community College and attended Mississippi State University. After college, Mike joined ownership in the family business, Piggly Wiggly Grocery Stores, and spent his life serving their customers. He loved people and working with the public. He was an avid outdoorsman. You would often find him on his land riding his tractor. The joy of his life was his soul mate, Dawn and his twin sons, Keegan and Camden.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Booneville Funeral Home. Bro. Jay Stanley and Bro. Jason Reed will be officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is assisting the family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Woods Vernon; sons, Keegan James Vernon and Camden Clark Vernon; father, James Vernon; aunts, Cynthia McGonagill (Bobby Joe) of Amory, MS, and Janet Duncan Tallon of Grenada, MS; mother-in-law, Linda Combs (Gary) of Spanish Fort, AL; father-in-law, Joel Woods (Elaine) of Brandon, MS; sister-in-law, Stephanie Bowlen (TG) of Madison, MS; brothers-in-law, David Woods (Kelly) of Mobile, AL, and Luke Woods (Haley) of Colorado. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Vernon, and an uncle, Billy Tallon.
Pallbearers will be Joe McGonagill, Jeff Snyder, Keith Stevens, Brian McGonagill, Gary Walker, Kendall Stevens, and Tommy Luke. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Combs, Luke Woods, David Woods, and Luke Woods.
Memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Booneville, 401 West Church Street, Booneville, MS, 38829.
