Ruby "Jewel" Robbins

NEW ALBANY – Ruby ""Jewel"" Robbins, 87, of New Albany, passed away Saturday Dec. 28, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. She was born to Walter and Mary Elizabeth Richardson. After other employment, she most recently retired from Walmart in New Albany as a door greeter. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends, spending time with her flowers, cooking and enjoying life and laughter.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Pilcher officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include son, Barry Robbins (Sherri) of New Albany; grandsons, Walt and Wesley Robbins of Oxford and Desmond Robbins (Tiffany) of Fulton; daughter-in-law, Carol Robbins; Christi Nabors, Bailey and Breeze of Fulton; great-grandson, Tryton Robbins of Fulton; sister, Loyce Benefield of New Albany; and brother, Boyce Richardson of Ecru.
She was preceded in death by son, Carey Robbins; sisters, Thelma Hall, Winnie Hall, Delma Todd and Modie Benjamin; brothers, S.B. Richardson, W.T. Richardson, W.C. Richardson and Johnny Richardson; and husbands, Jimmy Robbins and Raymond Robbins.
Pallbearers will be Walt Robbins, Wesley Robbins, Desmond Robbins, Layton Sappington, Walter Richardson and Larry Hall.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, all at the church.
In leiu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
