Tucker McCarley

1951 - 2025

Larry "Tucker" McCarley, 74, passed away in his home on July 26, 2025.

Tucker was born in Booneville, MS, on May 29, 1951 to Katie (Yarber) and Sherrod McCarley. He graduated from Booneville High School in 1969 and married the love of his life, Brenda Windham McCarley, on August 8th the same year. Together they had one daughter, Melonie. After graduating from Northeast Junior College (1971), Tucker worked a nearly lifelong career as the owner of McCarley Plumbing and Electrical in Booneville, MS. From 1976-2017 he employed guys who were like a second family, wired and plumbed countless homes and businesses, and proved himself to be reliable and ingenious. He relished the role of father and grandfather to his grandchildren, and generally lived a life of laughter and innovation. Tucker was always building or creating something in his home, life, and in all spaces he touched. He was blessed with the gift of problem solving and could repair any situation with the slightest resources. He retired to spend the remainder of his life with his beloved wife and best friend, Brenda. In his final years, he was a dedicated member of Asbury Church where he served on multiple committees and often volunteered to cook, sing, and do repairs and maintenance. Tucker was the best of Mississippi: warm, funny, community and family oriented, handy as all get out, reliable in all situations, and full of stories. Those remaining to share Tucker's lasting legacy are his wife, Brenda McCarley; daughter, Melonie McCarley Counce; sister, Linda Cromeans; grandchildren Emma and Leland Counce; beloved cat, Rachel; and his dear friends and work family. A service will be held at Holland Funeral Home on Tuesday August 5, 2025 at 5:00 pm preceded by visitation at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to Asbury Church of Mississippi.
