Edith Olgie York Duck

Edith Olgie York Duck, age 86 of Murfreesboro, TN, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012.

A native of Alamance County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Shelly Ross York and Swannee Moser York Moore. Mrs. Duck was also preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Thomas Duck, who died in 1982, and by a son, Joe Johnathan Duck. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Cecil York, Lawrence York and C. M. Moore, and sisters, Carlene York Baird and Libby York Allred.

Mrs. Duck is survived by her daughter, Beth Duck McGonigal and son, Ben (Leigh Ann) Duck; grandchildren, James and Jonathan McGonigal, and Ashleigh and Austin Duck, all of Murfreesboro, TN.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Duck was a caring and devoted wife and mother. She worked at Fall Creek Falls State Park in Pikeville, TN where her husband served as Park Superintendent. After his death, she transferred to Warriors State Park in Kingsport, TN and worked ten years until her retirement in 1991.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Fellowship Cemetery in Scotts Hill, TN with Pam Pilote officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or Caris HealthCare Hospice in memory of Mrs. Duck.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, at Woodfin Funeral Chapel, Murfreesboro (615) 893-5151. Online condolences may be made at www.woodfinchapel.com.

It was always a pleasure to see Ms. Edith every year and hear her tell me all about her grandkids. My prayers and thoughts are with all of her loved ones at this time.

Edith and Leona (my mother) had a long lasting and strong family bond to survived many moves and family events. I will remember the pair of them and the care they showed for one another. They were part of a special generation.
