Eric had a beautiful soul, a generous heart and was a wonderful father. I will miss him terribly, but will never forget him. I know he's fishing with all his friends in heaven, chasing after a snake. I'm just glad your pain has ended old friend. Your life lives on in your children and grandchildren.
Love,
Karen

Eric was a friend to everyone and a pleasure to know. He was one of the funniest, easy going, and beloved people I have ever known. He will be missed by all his family and friends and will forever be in our hearts. We have a new angel to look over us for sure.

Eric worked with me on NASA's SOFIA Program.
He was a valuable asset, an excellent avionics technician. His judgment and knowledge allowed this nationally important program to fly on time every time. Eric arrived at NASA with his friend Eric Wilcox, and the two were “Big Eric” and “Little Eric”. World class technicians both made our work easier. Eric shared his great sense of humor, evident in his “Vort report”, which he emailed to the team to keep us informed of the often difficult technical problems he was tackling. If he could throw a joke in the report everyone laughed.
NASA could not compete with his farm, fishing and family. We tried to convert him to a full time NASA technician but that would not have worked with his life outside of NASA.
We, the NASA avionics team on SOFIA, will miss the wonderful man and remember his days spent with us, his contributions to the early science flights of the unique SOFIA program made science history. We would have never made it without his expert technical work.
Eric buddy, when I get finished here, I will go fishing with you.
