Gary Highfill Obituary

Gary Stuart Highfill

Gary Stuart Highfill, age 49 of Murfreesboro, died March 1, 2011.

He was a native of Nashville and was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Highfill; mother, Virginia Chapel Highfill; brothers, Phillip and Steve Highfill.

Mr. Highfill was a 26 year veteran and captain with the Metro-Davidson Nashville Fire Department, and a retired 1st Sergeant with the Air National Guard, serving numerous tours with the 118th AES.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Highfill; daughters, Claire Highfill and Cailsey Anthony; sister, Holly Highfill Garner and husband Paul of Murfreesboro; brother, Mike Highfill and wife Tami of Murfreesboro; step-mother, Jean Highfill of Hermitage; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Joyce Wilburn of Beechgrove; sister-in-law, Tina McGill and husband Michael of Murfreesboro; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, with full Military Rites and honors from the Metro-Davidson Nashville Firefighters.

To the Highfill family, or family is sorry for your lose. Gary, Mike, and Steve were all lifelong friends. An awesome family! Words cannot express the sadness I feel for the Highfill family. I remember Gary from Antioch High. He was a real good guy then and I am sure he has been a really great man through the years. I am fortunate to have known him even for the short time I did.
