James Glaser

Murfreesboro - James "Jim" William Glaser, age 81, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at his residence. He was a native of Spalding, NE but has lived in Rutherford County since 2004.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Louis and Marie Glaser and brothers; Robert and Tompall Glaser. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Glaser of Murfreesboro, sons; James William Glaser II and his wife Patty of Washington, and Jeffery Louis Glaser of Gatlinburg, daughters; Connie Jane Glaser of Murfreesboro and Jeanne Lynn Glaser of Nashville, brothers; John Glaser and Charles "Chuck" Glaser and wife Beverly, sister, Eleanor Ryan, grandchildren; Jessica, Cameron, Amanda, Ashley, J.B., Corbin, Alex, Dylan, Keri and Stephen and great-grandchildren, Elleana, Zoe, Chance, Leland, Hayden and Mia.

A celebration of life for Jim will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAWS of Murfreesboro.

I and legions of others miss Mr. Glaser dearly. He is of the true iconic voices and songwriters in the history of American Music. He put his heart and soul into every song. I never met him but I list him as a friend because that's that way he made me feel. God Bless your soul !!

So sad and broken hearted we are, when those we love pass on. A definite part of our lives, according to God's Plan for us. I fell on love with Jim Glaser´s voice in the the early 80´s. Today in 2021 I am 62 years old and my favorite avlems are the scratchy ones from Jim. I am on a mission to find those albums again in good condition so I can listen to his incredible voice for my remaining years. He had a true gift and talent in his voice. I only found his obituary today while looking for copies of his albums and it filled my heart with much sorrow. Heaven surely has one angelic voice in Mr. Jim Glaser! Thank you for sharing your talent with so many of us!

I sure loved Jim. I was a songwriter and musician over at Tompall's studio and publishing company. I became very good friends with Jim and Chuck also. Jim was the one who had the great ear for Harmony, and a great songwriter. Jim was a friend, and always encouraged me as a writer. He, Chuck and Tompall were the beast Harmony group in Nashville, I owe a great deal of the knowledge I gained in the Music Industry to Tompall, Jim and Chuck.

Jim was one of the nicest, smartest and most talented men I ever knew. I had the honor and pleasure of being his bass player and background singer for a few years in the late 90's and beyond. Working on the 4th of July. Decided to listen to Mr. Glaser o computer. While looking his music I saw where he had died. Broke my Heart. My favorite song of his was 'The lights of Albuquerque". He had the most beautiful and haunting voice. Rediscovered him while watching a Marty Stuart program. Even ordered a CD. A bucket list item is to visit Albuquerque. He was quite a gentleman. I would chat via email with him every so often a few years back while I was earning my doctorate degree. I loved his music. I told him how much I loved his songs - especially the one about Albuquerque. I remain a huge fan of his songs. He was just a nice person. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing and give my sincerest and deepest condolences to Jane, Lynn and the rest of the family. I have great memories with Jim. First got acquainted with Jim in the late 60's when Vince Matthews, Jim Casey myself and others in our group of writers and musicians were writing and hanging out. The Glaser Brothers were all great guys. I went in the Army in 1973 and when I came out Tompall gave me an office in Glaser Studios on 1900 Grand Ave. Jim would arrange the harmonies always and I loved listening to them practice and record. When I came out of the Army I was fortunate enough to be there when JImmy Bowen produced the album "Loving Her Was Easier" which went to number two and stayed in the charts for quite awhile as I remember. I loved the way Jim would slip-in front of Tompall in a performance with that great voice. I loved JIm and he was always kind to me. Debbie sent me his last album and it is impeccable. I will be praying for all of you. God Bless you through this time of loss. The whole music industry will miss Jim.

Jim was a very close friend as well as jane. My aunts Ruth and Pauline used to take me to see him and his brothers sing at the Grand Ole Opry. Plus eveywhere in surrounding states.
Used to play with Jamie, jeff, lynn and connie at their house.
Jim was and still is the best most loved, caring, kind hearted person.
