John Hash Obituary

John A. Hash

Dr. John A Hash, age 90 of Murfreesboro, TN, Founder and President of Bible Pathway Ministries, went home to be with his beloved Savior and Lord Sunday, February 5, 2012 after a prolonged battle with diabetes.

John was born May 27 1921 in Marion County, OR to the late Alvin Hash and Iva Ann McElroy. John was called to the ministry at the age of 19, his love for the Lord and His Word was uppermost and very evident throughout his entire life.

During the early days of his 71-year ministry, he pastored several churches while studying in Bible School and college. From there, he went on to be employed with several prominent Christian organizations, including Rex Humbard, Jerry Falwell and John R. Rice in their respective ministries.

In the early 70's, Dr. Hash became burdened with the fact that people were lacking in knowledge and understanding of the Bible, God's Word. Dr. Hash and his wife Letha began a ministry to encourage others to read the Bible in a systematic easy-to-understand manner, and entitled it Bible Pathway Ministries.

Through his ministry, countless churches have been established around the world, particularly in Africa and India. His devotional commentaries, written over the past 37 years, are being used by Churches in most Bible-Believing denominations across America and around the world.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Hash and Iva Ann McElroy, and his wife of 63 years, Letha Hash.

He is survived by his half-brother, Alvin Hash; his children, Linda (Joel) Kennon of Seattle, WA, Rick (Diana) Hash of Oregon and Bonnie Wilhite of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Christian (Jim) Birchman, Joy (James) Little, Jannah Kennon, Lisa Arrington, Tosha (David) Powell, Darci (Toni) Hazlewood, Leanna Hash, Jauna Hash, Shelley Robertson, Jeffrey (Becky) Wilhite, Jay (Patti) Wilhite, Andy Wilhite, and several great and great-great-grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by the staff and fellow employees at Bible Pathway Ministries.

There will be a Memorial Service on Monday, February 20th at 10 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, Murfreesboro, TN.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to send thousands of Bibles and Bible Pathways to pastors, churches and ministries around the globe, helping fulfill his favorite hymn "The Regions Beyond," which was also the cry of his heart.

Donations can be made to Bible Pathway Ministries, PO Box 20123, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.

My family attended Bible Pathway Ministries (church) in the late 1980's.Dr.Hash and Letha were the epitomy of what the head of a church should be. They both were very loving and patient.Several families and visitors came and went, but Bible Pathway went forward. I still remember the sanctuary and the verse that was on the wall behind Dr.Hash as he spoke. It read,"GO YE THERFORE AND TEACH ALL NATIONS". As a teenager,I had all the answers.I did not the teachings very seriously at the time, but OH! If I knew then what I know now.He broke down each and every Bible verse in such a way that it was easy to understand. I remember singing "The Regions Beyond" and I remember the energy he had as he sang it,sometimes repeating it. I pray for the Hash family and the Bible Pathway family as well. We have lost a good and beautiful spirited shephard here on Earth but he is waiting for us on High.- Ramona Williams Wurm (the John Wade family)
