AARON FLAKE Cimarron: Aaron C. Flake, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on August 1, 2025 at The Shepherd's Center in Cimarron, after a courageous, decades-long battle with cancer. He was 62. Born in Dodge City on November 30, 1962, Aaron was a true American originalpatriotic, loyal, and fiercely tough. He loved his country, cheered passionately for President Trump, and lived for Saturdays with Kansas State football and Sundays with the LA Chargers. For over 30 years, Aaron found joy and purpose in racing pigeons, a passion he shared with his dad and best friend Randy. That brotherhoodbuilt on early mornings, quiet skies, and the thrill of competitionwas one of the great joys of his life. Aaron's fight began at just 16 years old, when back pain following a football game revealed spinal cancer. At 32, a brain tumor returned to test him again. Doctors at Mayo Clinic gave him a 1% chance of surviving ten years. Aaron made it 29. Through grit, faith, and a tough spirit, Aaron never let his illness define him.To those who truly knew him, Aaron was a symbol of resilience. His unshakable will and enduring courage inspired everyone who encountered his story. Survivors include his brothers, Alex Flake and wife Tracy of Wichita and Anson Flake and wife Katie of Enola, Pennsylvania; stepsister, Krista Wilson Monical and husband Jeff of Cimarron; stepbrother, Kent Wilson and wife Shirl of Marion, Iowa; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Aaron was preceded in death by his mother and remarkably dedicated caretaker, Jody Wilson; stepfather, Ivan Wilson; father, Jim Flake; stepmother, Mari Lou Flake; and stepsister, Karla Housman. A celebration of Aaron's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Cimarron Church of the Nazarene Church. Burial will follow at the Cimarron Cemetery. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and share in honoring a life fullyand fiercelylived.
