Lonnie O’Dell Flake, 74, passed away peacefully in his home on January 24, 2026.
The youngest of four siblings, Lonnie lived a storied life full of adventure—one of those people who's done just about everything. His passion for life was evident in how he spent his time and in how deeply he loved his people.
Lonnie was an amazing, patient, and kind man who brought laughter and calm wherever he went. He had a quick wit and loved a good pun, but beneath the humor was a deep wisdom and a steady kindness that made people feel safe, seen, and loved. He listened well, gave thoughtful advice, and led with a quiet, humble example.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Delinda Flake; his mother, Salina Miller; his daughter, Alicia Cartrite, and her husband, Blake Cartrite; his two granddaughters, Birdie and Hadlee; his sister, Salina Mills, and her husband, Marcus Mills; and his brother, Lestant Flake, and his wife, Barbara Flake.
In lieu of a funeral service, a come-and-go memorial will be held on Saturday, January 31, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at More Church in Amarillo, Texas. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a fund established to support his wife, Delinda Flake. mealtrain.com/flake
