CECILIA DOMINGUEZ
DODGE CITY - Cecilia Dominguez, a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, great-aunt, friend, and teacher, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center. She was born and raised in Dodge City, Kansas, where she built a lifetime of faith, family, and service.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 39 years, Juan Dominguez, with whom she shared a life of love and faith and love of Mexican food. They established the first TortillerÃa in Dodge City, Kansas, called TortillerÃa Margarita. Together, they built a strong and loving family. Cecilia was a devoted mother to her two daughters and their husbands: Cecilia Margarita Thibault (Matthew Thibault) and Perlita Mercedes Dominguez (Matthew Mohan).
Cecilia is also survived by her siblings: Victor Amaro (Rhonda Amaro), Patricia Garduño (late Eddie Garduño), John Amaro (Brenda Amaro), Arturo Amaro (Shelly Amaro), and Her Brother-in-Law, Donato Dominguez (Lila Kuri Dominguez). Also, her beloved grandpups, Jasper and Bear Thibault and Opal Dominguez Mohan. She was loved by numerous cousins who were lifelong friends. She was adored by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Margarita Amaro, as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Juan Dominguez Quintana and Maria (Cucutia) Fiereo.
Teaching was not only Cecilia's profession but her calling. For 43 years, she dedicated her life to teaching Spanish at both the middle and high school levels in Claflin and Dodge City, Kansas. She touched countless lives with her patience, kindness, and devotion to her students, inspiring generations to embrace language, culture, and education. Her classroom was more than a place of learning; it was a space filled with encouragement, care, and faith.
Cecilia's greatest joy was her family. As a wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and great-aunt, she poured her heart into every relationship, creating a legacy of warmth and unity. Her presence at family gatherings, her laughter, and her unwavering support will be deeply missed.
As a woman of deep faith, Cecilia was a devoted Catholic who lived her values through service, compassion, and prayer. Her strong spiritual life guided her path and uplifted those around her. Cecilia leaves behind a legacy of joy, resilience, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In loving memory of Cecilia, a rosary will be at 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the church, with Fr. John Stang presiding. After mass cremation will follow. Family and friends may sign the register book from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. There will be no public viewing, the casket will remain closed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Preparing a Place to help with the new school construction in Cecilia's memory.
