Jetmore – Cynthia Bach, 91, of Jetmore, Kansas, passed away in peace Wednesday, December 10, 2025, joining her husband Herb in heaven, who passed away earlier this year.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, July 4, 1934, to Fred and Bertha (Gladbach) Dice, Cynthia's family lived in Tonganoxie, Kansas, for most of her early childhood then moved to Lenexa, Kansas where she spent the rest of her youth and teenage years.
Cynthia graduated from St. Agnes High School (Now Bishop Miege) in Roeland Park, Kansas, in 1952. She pursued a degree in teaching at Ursuline College in Paola, Kansas, attended summer classes at the University of Colorado, Boulder and graduated in 1954. She began her teaching career in Olathe, Kansas.
While in college, Cynthia met the love of her life, Herb Bach, on a blind date set up by her roommate and cousin to Herb. The two married on February 22, 1955 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa, Kansas. They lived in several Kansas communities before settling in Jetmore, Kansas in 1964, and established their home on Eakin Street in 1965, where she resided until this past summer. This is where Cynthia and Herb raised their four children and created many happy memories together.
Cynthia loved to play games, travel America, go camping and give of herself as a volunteer for community boards and many service organizations. As an active member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Jetmore, she was on the Altar Society, she served on the town Library Board, the Housing Authority board, and she was an election worker for over 50 years just to name a few. Cynthia was also instrumental in organizing the local Genealogy Society, which also led to her tracing her family ancestry to the early 1700's and her becoming a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
A few years after getting married, Cynthia started an upholstery business. She was wildly talented in this endeavor which she did from their home and always had a list of future clients.
Cynthia and Herb took their children on many camping trips, annual vacations and the two traveled to national parks all over the country, including Alaska. They flew to Australia, took a bus trip to D.C. and many other destinations and vacationed well into their 80's and continued to camp at Kansas lakes until a couple of years ago.
Cynthia is survived by her four children Rex (Beverly), Wisconsin Dells, WI, Ron (Theresa), Jetmore, Denise Strader (Robert), Dodge City, KS, and Doug (Martha), Kansas City, KS; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband Herb of nearly 70 years, her brother Fred, a sister, Sister MaryAnn Dice OSB and a great granddaughter.
There will be a Rosary and Vigil Friday, December 19, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.; her funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025. Prayers for all of my cousins during this difficult time. We always enjoyed when your parents came to the family picnic. They enjoyed the trailer ride around the farm. Or when they came to visit your Grandparents and we got to come play with all of you. God bless
