DEAN DAY Dean Everett Day, age 91, of Manhattan and formerly of Harper, Kansas, passed away on August 07, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan. He was born on April 24, 1934, in Beeler, Kansas, the son of Everett and Ivy (Watson) Day. He grew up in Beeler, Kansas, and graduated Salutatorian from Beeler High School with the class of 1952. In the summer of 1954 Dean enlisted in the Army. He was stationed at Fort Bliss and Fort Leonard Wood and in January of 1955 was sent to Germany. He returned to Kansas in 1956 and attended Fort Hays State University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts in 1960. On June 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Bonnie June Dougherty. Bonnie and Dean eventually settled in Dodge City. In 1973, after working for several local electrical contractors, he started his own business --DS&D. He retired in 2002, and he and Bonnie moved to Harper, Kansas. Dean was an active member of the VFW and American Legion, both in Dodge City and Harper. He participated in all activities the organizations sponsored. Dean was an avid golfer. Dean was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Dodge City, Calvary Lutheran Church in Wellington, and Christ Lutheran Church in Manhattan. He is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie June Day, infant son Mark Waine Day, his parents Everett and Ivy Day, and his sister Allene Pauls. Dean is survived by his children-- Steven Day (Kim), David Day (Nancy), and Nancy Day; his grandchildren--Thomas (Amanda), Noah (Emily), Marissa (Kane), and Joshua (Sarah); his 5 great-grandchildren--Mikayla, Colton, Adelynn, Braleigh and Brynley.
