Glen Oscar Wentling

1936 - 2014

Glen Oscar Wentling left this world to be with his Father September 15, 2014.  He was born on June 26, 1936 to Oscar and Mary (Kinderknecht) Wentling in Ogallah.
 
He graduated from Trego County High School in 1954 and after working in the Oil Fields, attended and graduated from the Kansas Barber School in Wichita.  He married Beverly Owens on September 4, 1956. They moved to Dodge City in 1963 and shortly thereafter opened "Glen's Barber Shop".
 
Glen and Bev raised three devoted children Randy, Jill, and Brad.  Glen's second marriage was to Evelyn Carmean on July 2, 1989.  Glen and Evelyn just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.  He took great joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He also enjoyed moving the chains for the Dodge City Demon's football team and attending other community events.
 
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, a third degree Knight with the Knight's of Columbus and a member of the Moose Lodge.  He was a loving and generous Father, Brother, Husband, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle and Friend, and his wonderful sense of humor will be missed beyond words. He lived by a verse that I recently heard, "The greatest gift a man can give to the world is to be a good father". 
 
Glen was preceded in death by his mother and father, infant daughter Rebecca and step-son Tracy.  He is survived by his wife Evelyn, brothers, Gary (Pat) of Hays, Ron (Jill) of Dallas, sister Mary Kay (Larry) of Yuma, AZ, sons, Randy (Gayle) of Colorado Springs, Brad (Adrienne) of Omaha, and daughter Jill of Glenwood Springs, CO.  He is also survived by grandchildren, Kristi, Stacie, Cole, Alice and Emilia, and great grandchildren, Mason and Wesley Glen.
 
Visitation will be Thursday from 12-5 P.M. at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Dodge City and a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M.
