JOHN GEIER

JOHN GEIER DODGE CITY: John Michael Geier, 77, died Monday, August 4, 2025 at Reflection Living, Dodge City. He was born May 14, 1948 at Garden City, the son of Alex and Rosa (Billinger) Geier. He was a graduate of Garden City High School and attended Garden City Community College. He worked in the insurance field most of his life as an agent for John Deere Insurance and Sentry Insurance before owning his own agency, Farmers Union Midwest Regional Agency in Dodge City until retiring in May 2020. He was married to Stana L. Simpson Geier for 51 years. They lived in Denver for 10 years before returning to Dodge City in 1988. He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City and Knights of Columbus Council in Garden City, as well as the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and other old westerns. Survivors include: his wife, Stana, Dodge City; 2 sons, Nicholas Geier and wife Britta, Denver, Colorado and Matthew Geier and companion Jennifer Smith, Wellington, Kansas; 2 granddaughters, Greer Parkinson Geier and Rory Patterson Geier. Also, his mother-in-law, Marilyn Simpson, sisters-in-law, Glory Spikes, Tammy McElhinney and Annette Geier, and brothers-in-law, Jeff Simpson and Jim Scott and wife Jan. Also, many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Alex Geier, Jr., Rose Ann Minet, Greg Geier, Brian Geier and Karen Geier. Also, father-in-law, Stanley Simpson and wife Pat and brothers-in law Lou Minet, Trent Spikes and Mick McElhinney, nieces, Cindy Minet and Wendy Minet, nephews, William Minet and Dilan Geier and nephew-in law, Kevin Gwaltney. Memorial service will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Jeff Hiers officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, August 22, 2025 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
