JOHN LIEBL John Conrad Liebl, 78, died February 9 in Overland Park, Kansas. John was born March 14, 1946 in Spearville, Kansas the son of Conrad J. Liebl and Charlotte (Laudick) Liebl. After his family moved to Dodge City, John attended Sacred Heart Catholic school. He was a 1964 graduate of St. Mary Of The Plains High School in Dodge City where he played football, basketball and baseball. He went on to further his education at Dodge City Community College; St. Mary Of The Plains College and also attended Wichita State University. John was an adventurer of sorts. He worked in international imports and lived in a variety of locations including Key West, Florida where he loved to sail the ocean and in Sun Valley, Idaho where he loved to ski. He also worked construction in Hawaii and the oil fields of Alaska. And for a time was also involved in the family restaurant and bar business in Dodge City. John loved movies, sports and working out. He also loved animals especially dogs, cats and horses. John had been living in Hawaii for 20 years when three years ago he was diagnosed with dementia and brought back home to Kansas to be closer to family. Even though his memory had faded, he couldn't forget to still laugh and smile. John is survived by his brother, Leon of Olathe and his sister, Jane Liebl-Folger and her husband, Wayne Folger of Denver, North Carolina. Other survivors include his nieces and nephews; Beth Woodworth, Eric Woodworth, Amy Woodworth and husband Scott Goings, Abby Sexton and husband Dave Sexton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mark Liebl, his sister, Mary Ann Woodworth, brother-in-law Wayne Woodworth and nephew, Edward Donaher. There will be no funeral service, but a mass in John's name will be said at 8:00 am March 28 at Sacred Heart Church in Dodge City. His family will be in attendance. The family suggests memorials in John's name be made to the Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund or Ascend Hospice in Overland Park in care of Porter Funeral Home 8535 Monrovia Lenexa, KS 66215.
