Naomi Faye Schroeder, 87, formally of the Overton area, died January 7, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society in Dodge City, Kansas. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 13, 2014 at the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney, NE with the Rev. Jim Hossler officiating.  Burial will be 1:30 PM  at the Overton Cemetery.  Visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Overton.  Condolences or personal reflections may be submitted at www.osrfh.com.  Arrangements entrusted to O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home of Kearney.
She was born in the home of her parents, Orlin F. and Ethel Mary Robinson on December 25, 1926.  Naomi attended school at Miller, Cherry Valley and Watertown and graduated from Miller High School in 1944.  She married Donald Leroy Schroeder on March 10, 1944 and they established their first home northeast of Overton, Nebraska.  The couple had an Overton address for 55 years before moving to Dodge City, KS in 1998.
Naomi enjoyed working side by side with her husband to help achieve success in their chosen career of farming.  They retired from farming in 1994 and then she became a Farm Manager for 5 more years.  She worked at the Platte Valley Bag Factory in Overton, the Overton Observer and the Dawson County Courthouse in the Assessor and Clerk's office.
Naomi accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized by Immersion on January 7, 1948 and became a member of First Christian Church in Overton where she took an active part in the church functions.  She was a member of Hi Ho Club and served as Treasurer of the Overton Community Center Board and the Overton Senior Citizen Board for many years.  She enjoyed country and gospel music, garage sales, was a doll collector and enjoyed her "Christmas" birthday year round by having a Christmas Room in her home displaying the wonderful Christmas items she collected for many years.  Naomi never tired of traveling and everywhere she went always enjoyed God's handiwork displayed in the mountains with their snowcapped peaks, beautiful waterfalls, rivers with their rapids and oceans with the tides.  She loved her family and was always ready to visit the ones that resided many miles away in different states.  Naomi spent many memorable weekends going with Jim to shows, traveling  with Jerrold and helping Jack with his Real Estate business.  She had fun meeting all the people and helping her sons.  She was the best!
She is survived by her sons, Jack L. Schroeder and wife, Donna of Ohio and Jimmy L. Schroeder of Dodge City, KS; daughter-in-law, Nancy Schroeder of Sylvania, OH; grandchildren, Amy Adams and husband, Rich, Katie Miller, Brian Schroeder and wife, Mandy, Kelly Carmona and husband, Shawn, Krista Wales, Jeremy Schroeder and wife, Melissa, Emily Lapoint and husband, Rudy; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Kenney Robinson and wife, Sharlene of Kearney.  Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Orva Schroeder; husband, Donald Leroy Schroeder; and son, Jerrold Schroeder.
