1966 - 2023

RICK INDIEK DODGE CITY - Rick left this earth on February 9th, 2023 at KU Medical Center surrounded by his family and dear friends. He was born on January 9th, 1966 in Kinsley, KS to parents John and Phyllis (Schmitt) Indiek. Rick graduated from Spearville High School in 1984 and graduated from Garden City Community College in 1986. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Rick was a wonderful father to his daughter, Jaylen. He supported Jaylen in every adventure of band, bowling, and more. She will forever be the love of his life. Rick had the gift for farming and did so across 3 counties, growing wheat and milo. More recently, you could find him either at his farm, out for lunch, in his office, or relaxing at the lake with friends. Rick had a larger-than-life personality and lit up the room wherever he went with his smile and contagious laugh. If you ever needed a dance partner, he was your guy. Rick was an active sports fan of volleyball, basketball, and water skiing. Rick has left many meaningful and happy memories to last a lifetime. His friends and family will continue to honor his legacy by living life to the fullest. Rick, a father to one, a loving son, a brother, and a friend to all will be sorely missed and forever remembered. Rosary will be Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Funeral Mass to follow both at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Windthorst, with Fr. Ben Greene presiding. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be Friday from noon to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. There will be a Celebration of Life and open mic at 5:00 PM at the Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714, Dodge City, KS. Rick is survived by his daughter, Jaylen Indiek, Wichita; his parents John & Phyllis Indiek, Spearville; 3 sisters, Vicki & Mike Lee, Wichita, Lori & Tom Burke, Spearville, Joni & Robin Indiek, Bayfield, Colorado; 5 nieces and nephews, Christopher Lee, Jennifer & Mike Dupree, Nathan & Veronica Lee, Scott & Dawn Burke, Shawna & Kyndell Penick; 8 great nieces and nephews, Lea, Audrey, Collin, Hailey, Scott Jr., Kayden, Parker, and Conner; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfons & Hildegard Schmitt and Ben & Helen Indiek.
