Charles E. Paulsen, 85, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Friday afternoon, April 24, 2015, at the Skilled Nursing Facility at Ministry Door County Medical Center.

Chuck was born November 30, 1929, in Oak Park, IL, the only child of Karl and Hildred (Lange) Paulsen. His parents passed away early in life, and he was raised by his maternal grandparents. Chuck completed his education in Illinois and went on to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, serving his country with the United States Navy for four years. He was employed by Ameritech Illinois Bell for over 26 years, retiring in 1981 as a systems analyst manager.

On October 1, 1955, Chuck was united in marriage to Jean E. Anderson in Oak Park, IL. They moved to Door County in 1988. Chuck had become familiar with the area from time spent vacationing and boating here with his grandparents who had a cottage on Tacoma Beach Rd. He and Jean enjoyed seeing friends on their daily trips to the pharmacy, bank, library, car dealership, driving down Memorial Drive, and up north to (Jean's) hair appointments. They also liked traveling throughout Canada and the northwestern and northeastern parts of the United States by car and occasionally by train. Chuck and Jean shared over 54 years of marriage together. Jean preceded Chuck in death on July 21, 2010.

Chuck will be missed by his good friends, Dale and Kathy Blasier of Sturgeon Bay; as well as his friends from Bay Lake Bank and Jim Olson Motors.

A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Bayside Cemetery with Pastor Tim Malek officiating. Chuck will be laid to rest beside his wife, Jean.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to the entire staff at the Skilled Nursing Facility for their wonderful, compassionate care given to Chuck this past year.
