Acene Brown Obituary

Acene Brown, a resident of Dothan, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center after a short illness. She was 83.

Funeral services will be today, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. in the Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Thaxton Whiddon officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Bobby Capps, 7610 S. Park Ave., Dothan.

Acene was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Houston County. She retired from the Hedstrom Union Co. after 30 years of service. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.

Acene is preceded in death by her parents, Ed Lassiter and Velma Lassiter Johnson; her beloved sister, Evelyn Pogue; and her first husband, Hoyt Capps.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Leon Brown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Melba Capps, Bobby and Lottie Capps all of Dothan; five grandchildren Tim Capps, Ocala, Fla., Beverly (John) Johnson, Wildwood, Fla., Charles (Christy) Capps, Holmes County, Fla., Carol (Tony) Lasseter and Joe Capps all of Dothan; two beloved great-grandsons, Storm Lasseter and Stone Lasseter both of Dothan; brother, Lamar Johnson, Bonifay, Fla.; sister-in-law, Kathleen Capps, Abbeville; numerous nieces and nephews.

Casket bearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law with special family friend, Kevin Webb.
