Beatrice Floyd Goodson, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday morning, June 21, 2016, in the Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was 88. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 23, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Dennis Tew and Brother Billy Gant officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303. Mrs. Goodson was born and reared in Kinsey, daughter of the late Iverson Floyd and Bertha Cochran Floyd. She lived in Dothan and Webb most of her adult lifetime. Mrs. Goodson was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. In earlier years, she worked with her late husband in the operation of Goodson Roofing and was employed by JC Penney. She was preceded by her husband, Rex Goodson, a sister, Gladys Wallace and two brothers, J.B. Floyd and Willie Floyd. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Lisa Marshall (Jack), Headland; two sons, Mitch Goodson and Mike Goodson (Peggy), all of Webb; a sister, Evelyn Barfield Davis, Dothan; a brother, Danny Wilson (Robbie), Dothan; four grandchildren, Nicole Goodson, Rex Goodson, Terry Blake Smith (Ashley), and Brooke Ward (Dustin); two great-grandchildren, Addy Grace Smith and Daxon Ward, and her lifelong best friend, Neva Alley. Serving as active pallbearers will be Terry Blake Smith, Rex Goodson, Dustin Ward, Paul Aldrich, Billy Ray Barfield and Mark Hoffman. The family would like to express their appreciation to Extendicare Health & Rehab and also Gentiva Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Goodson during her illness.
