Billy Ralph Ball was born at home in Dothan Alabama on December 9th, 1948. He passed away at home in Pansey, Alabama on September 18th, 2016. He was 67 years young! After graduating Dothan High School in 1967 at the age of 18, he left home to join the United States Air Force, during the Vietnam War Era. Though he never served overseas he was stationed in Alaska, which some say is worse! After serving in the military he spent most of his life in Palmdale California where he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller. He also owned and operated the Calico Saloon and Dance Hall, a country western bar, located in Lancaster, California. He retired in 1999 after 29 years and 1 month of service to the Government and moved to Nevada. In 2004 he moved back home to Alabama, where he would spend the rest of his life! Billy was the 5th child born to the late Eddie James Ball and Dovie Clark Ball. His four older siblings have already passed on and as he said, he was next in line! He leaves behind his younger brother Ricky Dale Ball of Pansey, AL, and an even younger sister Sandra Gail Ball of Dothan, AL. He has two children that we know of, a son Chris Ball of Las Vegas, NV and a daughter Melissa Murphy of Port Angeles, WA. He has six grandchildren, Christina Ball, Thomas Ball, Hailey Ball, Tyler Ball, Matthew Keeler and Andy Keeler. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at Mt Hebron Church and Cemetery near Newton AL on October 2nd, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Reverend and family friend Earl Clark officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary.
