Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Enon Church of Christ Cemetery in Webb with Min. Johnny Ingram officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home of Ashford. Other than scheduled visitation times, the family will gather at the residence of Mr. Roney, 707 Willie Varnum Road.
Mr. Roney was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Ashford. After graduating from Ashford High School, Mr. Roney joined the U.S. Air Force and served five years in London during the 1950s. After returning home, Charles was involved in many ventures including owning a Pre Cast Concrete company, a boat building company, and most recently, he and his wife, Ann, owned and operated Ann's Elder Care in Port Charlotte, Fla., ten years before moving to Dothan. He was a member of Enon Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hosey "Webb" Roney and Alberta "Alma" Davis Roney, and sister, Lucille Lupo, Denton, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Ann Roney, Dothan; five brothers, Edwin Roney and wife (Florence), Atlanta, Earl Roney and wife (Agnes), St. Petersburg, Fla. Wilburn Roney and wife (Sue), Avon, James Ray Roney and wife (Ethel), Cowarts, Bobby Roney, Ashford; sister, Sarah McBrayer, and husband (Nick), Cowarts; three daughters, Krista Hernandez and husband (Jerry), Santa Barbara, Calif., Kelly Roney, St. Petersburg, Karmen Estes and husband (Charles), Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Coby Smith, C.J. Smith, Stan Smith, Rob Taylor, James Lane and Leonard Lane
