Chasity Barnes Obituary
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Northview Christian Church, Hart Ramsey, pastor, with the Rev. Wayne Lampley officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Church in Headland with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Chasity was born on May 5, 1981, in Houston County and lived most of her life in Webb. She graduated from Ashford High School in 1999 and received her bachelor's degree in public relations and journalism from Troy University in 2002 and her master's degree in business administration from Troy University in Dothan in 2007. She was employed with Southeast Alabama Medical Center in the marketing department and later with the Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula as Marketing Director. At the time of her death she was employed with Troy University in Troy as a community college relations coordinator. She was a member of Northview Christian Church and a former member of the Sardis Baptist Church where she served as the minister of music.
Chasity was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Ulysees Barnes and Manes Jones Jr.
Survivors include her parents, Lander and Betty Barnes of Webb; sisters, Amanda Granger and her husband, Danyail of Richmond Hill, Ga., Regina Wallace and her husband, William of Lawrenceville, Ga., Candance Barnes of Webb; three nieces and a nephew, Bethany and Jordan Granger, Alana Wallace, Zachary Wallace; grandparents, Rachel Barnes of Webb, Annie Lee Jones of Dothan; many loving aunts and uncles, cousins and a special cousin, Erica Raquel Jones of Nashville, Tenn.; special friends, Frank Lloyd, Crystal Burrows, Crystal Bolton, Artresha Brown. A loving and dear church family and a host of relatives and friends also survive.

I meet Chasity my sophmore year at Troy. She and Crystal shared a suite with me at Cowarts Hall. I remember her as a very soft spoken almost angelic young woman. She will be truly missed by many.

I only knew Chasity for a short time while she was employed at Medical Center Barbour ,however that was long enough to know she was a very sweet and intelligent young woman who had alot to offer this world. When Chasity came to Ashford High School we hit it off first thing in 9th Grade English class. We had a great friendship that lasted beyond high school as so many friends don't. I have since moved away but always made time to call and visit Chasity whenever I was home. I will never forget the first time I met Chasity at Troy State. I met her at orientation and she was the sweetest person I have ever met. She was an angel here in earth and she will be truly missed. I remember Chasity during our trip to NYC a few years back. It was the all girls weekend and we had so much fun. Chasity was a very bright and beautiful girl with a very kind and giving heart. I am so hurt by this news when I heard that even to this day I still just cannot believe it has happened. Family please keep your head up, she is in a better place now and no longer suffering any pains. To the Barnes Family, I would like to express my condolences to you for I know how painful this is for all of you. Chasity was a remarkable woman. She always lived a life of dignity. I met Chasity my freshman year at Troy and we shared the same major, therefore we took most (if not all) of our classes together. We immediately grew very close. She was such a warm and caring person that you couldn't help but feel close to her. After college, my husband and I had the honor of having her at our wedding, a gathering at our home and she shared her presence with us at our daughter's christening. I started school at Ashford High my senior year, 1999...also Chasity's senior year. Even then, Chasity was one of the sweetest people that I knew, very welcoming and kindhearted. After high school, she and I both attended Troy State at the same time, and then, coincidentally, ended up working at SAMC together, also. Still, she was one of the kindest people around...always smiling and cheerful with something positive to say. I loved Chasity with all my heart...she was truly a blessing from god. Now she can enjoy her time with him like she wanted. I am still trying to understand why but I guess you shouldn't ask why. I am so sadden and so depressed about this and I will always remember Chasity and those great moments at Troy State. I remember meeting her and Chrystal in 1999. I was 2 years ahead of them as a transfer student and Chasity was a freshman. I remember meeting her in the cafeteria on campus and we had been friends ever since. And being in the same journalism program. I remember always seeing her at homecoming and how she loved being around her friends. And she never changed in the 10 years I have known her she was always sweet and good and always had a smile on her face.She loved life and loved traveling and seeing new things. I also remember that she was a TRUE faithful believer and servant of Jesus Christ. I am praying for her and her family in this time of grief its hard to believe that she is gone at 27 years old. None of us know the time or the place when its our time. And we all must understand that she is in the hands of the lord with no suffering, no pain, no dramma, no bills, and no sin and I just thank GOD and his loving son Jesus Christ that she is with them in heaven forever.
