He was born February 11, 1967, in Marianna, FL and lived there his entire life. Daniel graduated from Marianna High School, Class of 1985, and earned an A.A. Degree from Chipola College. He has worked in the family business, Barnes Tire and Supply for the past 28 years. Daniel was a Christian, a member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna and a member of the Marianna Optimist Club. He was an avid reader, and was known for his kindness, gentle spirit, and appreciation for the simple things in life. His family dearly loved him for his positive attitude and his willingness to help others. Daniel loved family gatherings and reminiscing with friends. Survivors include his wife, Candace and son C.J.; his parents, Gene and Sue Barnes of Marianna; two sisters, Denise Merrifield of Marianna and Suzanne Adams and husband, Landis of Prattville, AL; one brother, David Barnes and special friend, Brenda Johnson of Andalusia, AL; nieces and nephews, Amber Barnes, Mark Merrifield (Savannah), John Merrifield (fiance Ashley Williams), Mallory Merrifield, Mary Sue Woodruff (Joe), Sara Kate Adams, Caroline Adams, Maddie Craven and Jack Craven. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charlie Ray and Hattie Mae Teel of Andalusia, AL, and paternal grandparents, Dalton Barnes of Andalusia and Ruth Sellars Cook of Fitzgerald, Ga. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Marianna with Dr. Mark Long, Revs. Michael Petty and Joey Woodruff officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 in the evening October 24, 2014 at Maddox Chapel.
