Donald F. McKnight

Mr. Donald Floyd McKnight, age 85, of Dothan, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022.

Born March 1, 1936 in Newton, Alabama to the late Howell F. McKnight and Bertie Mae Andrews McKnight, Don loved the outdoors, fishing and boating. He could fix anything and took great pride in his lawn. Don was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for over 20 years and served on multiple committees. He was a member of Gideons International as well as an active member of the Newton Alumni.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Turner and his brothers, James Roy McKnight and Emmett Lewis McKnight.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Mary Carter McKnight; his daughters, Donna Trimnel (Don) and Tammy Thompson (Chris); his grandchildren, Tiffany Alley (Jeremy), Savannah McCoy (Josh), Tucker Thompson (Cassidy), Benjamin Trimnel (Ashley), Payton Henderson (Eric), and Tate Thompson; his great-grandchildren, Emelyn Alley, Fields McCoy, Noah Alley, Sutton McCoy, and Shepard McCoy; his brother, Dennis McKnight (Carol); his sister, Joette Bankston (Bob); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM, Monday, February 14, 2022 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Willis and Reverend Bob Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Wiregrass Children's Home or Gideons International.

Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Tucker Thompson, Tate Thompson, Benjamin Trimnel, Jeremy Alley, Josh McCoy, and Eric Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Andrews, Josh Andrews, Jacob Andrews, Caleb Andrews, Luke Andrews, Chase Meissner, and Carson Meissner.
