Donna Williams Obituary

Donna Rose (Hudson) Williams

August 25, 1962 - September 24, 2025

Donna Rose (Hudson) Williams, 63, of Fairhope, AL, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on September 24, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer. She is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father.

Born in South Carolina on August 25, 1962, to Weldon L. and Rose Hudson, Donna was raised in Avon, AL. She graduated as valedictorian from Ashford Academy in Ashford, AL. Donna then attended the University of South Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master's in Computer Science. While in school, Donna met her husband, Carl, and they married in April of 1989.

Donna possessed a remarkable mind for creativity and teaching. She taught computer science at the University of South Alabama before choosing to focus on motherhood. In 1994, she and Carl began their family, welcoming four children over the course of eight years. Donna's creativity extended beyond the classroom as she took on the role of homeschooling all four of her children. Later, she embraced the joy of being "Posy" to her grandchildren.

Known for her culinary talents, Donna was an excellent cook and baker. She became famous among her family for her holiday feasts, baked goods, and desserts. Her homemade chocolate chip cookies were especially popular, and it was common for her to bake hundreds of them in a single week to share with family and friends during Christmas. The endless supply of gingerbread men she made was also a favorite among her children, grandchildren, and nephews.

In addition to her passion for homemaking, Donna was a gifted gardener who spent countless hours tending to her plant and flower beds. She found much contentment in the work and beauty of gardening. She also enjoyed sewing and mending clothes for her children, grandchildren, and friends, as well as contributing beauty to Janet Carole's Bay Shore Ballet Academy by meticulously cleaning, mending, and restoring costumes from 2009 to 2020.

Donna is survived by her husband, Carl D. Williams; four children, Jacob Lyon (Christy), Weldon Luke (Ivey), Micah Ras (Casey), and Ella Naomi Rose Williams; four grandchildren, Elijah Grady, Gracie Weldon, Opal Inez Elaine, and Cooper Dean Williams; her mother, Rose Hudson; and two sisters, Lana Joiner and Caron (Mike) Richards. She is also survived by her four nephews, Daniel, Drew, Jared Joiner, and David Richards. Donna was preceded in death by her beloved father, Weldon L. Hudson.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, AL. A private family service will follow immediately after.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a flower in your garden to honor her memory.
