Dylan Christopher Avery, age 14, passed away August 26, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Ft. Riley, Kansas, on September 14, 2002. In his short time on Earth, Dylan achieved 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and 2nd Degree Black Belt in Karate. He was a varsity member of the Taft HS AFJROTC drill team, an AFJROTC Flight Sergeant, and a member of the Gifted and Talented Program. Additionally, Dylan earned several national awards in his freshman year. Those who knew him were touched by his genuine kindness, staggering intellect, motivation to achieve goals he had set out for himself, and his winning smile. Dylan epitomized all that you could ever hope for in a son and the quality of his existence far exceeded the quantity of his time on Earth. His memory will live on in the hearts of many. He is survived by his parents, Justin and Samantha Avery; brother, Ethan C. Avery; and loving grandparents. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 10:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. with a memorial service at 11:00 A.M.
