Edward Marblestone Obituary
Edward Marblestone, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and deeply respected member of the Dothan community, passed away peacefully on January 13 at the age of 86.
Ed was born on July 7, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. At summer camp, where he was affectionately known as "Tex," Ed's life took a meaningful turn at the age of fourteen when he met his childhood sweetheart, Roberta. That young friendship blossomed into a lifelong love story marked by devotion, partnership, and shared adventure. After marrying, Ed and Roberta moved to Dothan to begin their life together, where he joined the family auto parts business.
Ed dedicated more than forty years to Dothan Auto Parts, overseeing all operations with integrity, a strong work ethic, and genuine care for his customers and employees. He was widely respected not only for his business leadership, but for the way he treated people-with fairness, kindness, and honesty.
Ed lived his life guided by a strong sense of family, faith, and community. He was a member of the Dothan Rotary Club for over 50 years and served on the board of Landmark Park, generously giving his time and talents to causes close to his heart. A devoted member and past president of Temple Emanu-El, Ed's faith was a steady and meaningful presence throughout his life.
Those who knew Ed will fondly remember his keen sense of humor and wit. He found immense joy in the outdoors, especially camping, hiking, canoeing, whitewater rafting, and spending time in the mountains. Ed and Roberta shared a deep love of travel, enthusiastically exploring the world together and checking destinations off their wish list, creating memories that will be cherished by their family for generations. He shared his love of travel by taking all of his children and grandchildren on many camping trips, cruises and other family vacations.
Above all else, Ed was devoted to his family. He will be remembered for his wisdom, humor, passion and unwavering love for those closest to him.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Roberta; his 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Jeff Weissman, Nancy Schusterman, Debra and David Blanke, and Laura and Brad Dowling; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew, (Madeline Mesplay) Jake, and Gabby Weissman, Max and Molly Schusterman, Seth and Josh Blanke, and Sarah and Sophie Dowling; and his brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Susan Marblestone.
A graveside service will be held at Memory Hill Cemetery at Ward Wilson on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Temple Emanu-El, 188 N. Park Avenue, Dothan, Alabama 36303, or Landmark Park, 430 Landmark Drive, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
