Elouise Harbert Savell, a resident of Headland, died late Thursday night, January 21, 2016, at her home. She was 85. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 24, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with her brothers, Reverend James Harbert and Reverend Jerome Harbert officiating. A private graveside service will follow at 4:00 P.M. Sunday in the Savell Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Headland High School, 8 Sporman Street, Headland, AL 36345. Mrs. Savell was a lifelong resident of the Harbert Settlement, near Headland, daughter of the late Curtis Lee Harbert and Elsie B. Wood Harbert. She was a 1950 graduate of Houston County High School. Mrs. Savell was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was retired from the Headland High School Lunch Room as Assistant Manager and Dietician. Mrs. Savell was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Penuel Savell, a granddaughter, Emily Marie Savell, three brothers, Billy Harbert, Thomas Harbert and Gene Harbert. Surviving relatives include a son, Timothy Morris Savell (Theresa Ann), Headland; three grandchildren, John Morris Savell (Teri), Cynthia Erin Bodie (Mark) and Ginger Lynn Burgess (Ian); three great-grandchildren, Lili Burgess, Aden Burgess and Wyatt Bodie; a great-granddaughter on the way, Carlie Rose Savell; three sisters, Faye Nowell and Annette Olsen, both of Headland; and Judy Haynes (Bob), Dothan; two brothers, Reverend James Harbert (Henryetta), Marianna, FL; and Reverend Jerome Harbert (Judy), Kinsey; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Harbert and Glenda Griffin; several nieces and nephews; special, close friends, Patsy Howell and Jimmie Adkinson; and her beloved feline friend, Rascal. Serving as active pallbearer will be John Savell, Jay Harbert, Keith Harbert, Joe May, Joey Brown and Curtis Peters.
