Gerald Stephenson Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Wise Stephenson of Dothan, Alabama passed away in an automobile accident on February 24, 2017. He was 58. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 2 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Summerlin and Rev. Guy Causey officiating. Burial will follow in Louisville Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Jerry was born on July 1, 1958 in Geneva County, Alabama and lived his early years there. He was a 1976 graduate of Geneva High School. He attended Enterprise Junior College and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Agriculture Economics. He was employed for over 20 years at GroSouth, formerly known as Dothan Seed and Supply Company and was co-owner of The Feed Store for several years. Jerry was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and was a Die Hard Auburn Fan. He loved the great outdoors, and spent his spare time hunting and fishing. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and always willing to lend a helping hand to his family and friends, Jerry will truly be missed and his memory cherished. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents James and Jane Stephenson; his father and mother-in-law, Mack and Chris Peel. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Michelle Stephenson; his children, James Coleman "Cole" (Michelle) Stephenson and Kristina "Kristi" Jane Stephenson; his grandchildren, Hunter Dale, Scotlyn McGuerty and Brantlee Jennings; the mother of Hunter, Michelle Jennings; his brother, Jimmy (Doris) Stephenson; his sister, Pat (John) Rudd; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bill and Barbara Scroggins; and several nieces and nephews. www.SunsetMemorialPark.com
