Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 12, in the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark with the Rev. Jackie Davis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens.
There will be a visitation at Evans Funeral Home in Florala, Ala., from 6-8 Monday evening and on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark.
Mr. Barnes was born in Florala on Dec. 23, 1939, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Grover Barnes. He retired as a Master Sergeant after serving our country in the U. S. Army. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather affectionately known as "Paw Paw". He loved fishing, hunting and also was an avid Roll Tide Fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Beverly Barnes of Ozark; five daughters, Connie Boyington of Midland City, Ala., Patricia D. Russell of Midland City, Sonya M. Fink (Quin) of Florala, Lori A. Johnson (Kerry) of Ozark and Miranda C. Brighton (Patrick) of Ozark; one son, Ronald Barnes (Denise) of New Brockton, Ala.; one brother, Paul Barnes of Florala; 17 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Lynn Barnes, and two brothers, Frank Barnes and Grady Barnes, and his first wife, Sallie Barnes.
