John Paul Steven "JP" Sutherland, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at his residents surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was 70. A memorial service will be held in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 4 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3 PM to 4 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675. JP was born October 28, 1947. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps up until he was disabled. Mr. Sutherland served one tour in Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device. Mr. Sutherland was preceded in death by his parents, adopted father Dan Sutherland and mother Laura Sutherland; father Sheldon Hall; one grandchild Johnny McDaniel II. Mr. Sutherland is survived by his wife of 11 years, Rita Sutherland; three daughters, Aimee Sutherland, Joy Cipcic (Jake), Faith Sutherland; two step-children, Faith McDaniel and Kenneth McDaniel; two brothers, Frank Hall (Cindy), and Carl Sutherland (Carol); two sisters Shelley Sutherland (Herb), and Edith Marler (Jeffrey); ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. www.southernheritagefh.com
